Ava talks about chasing and achieving your dreams

Goal Getter

The year 2005 was when I began working out, competing in figure and building myself as a brand named Ava Cowan. I worked every angle imaginable and usually most waking hours of the day. I put my head down and plugged away working as a personal trainer struggling to make ends meet while endlessly pursuing my goal to get involved in the fitness industry. Money was tight, and competing in an expensive sport created even more stress because of the cost associated with the competitions. Those obstacles didn't matter to me because I had found a heartfelt passion. This new venture was something that I could sink my teeth into. Deep in my heart, I believed I could do this and went for it head on at full speed.

Essentially what that meant was that I spent endless hours utilizing all the Internet had to offer in terms of social networking. That drive helped me create a small name and an Internet following that gave value as an athlete to prospective supplement companies looking to increase sales through marketable athletes. After 4 years of never giving up, and many rejections, I finally achieved my biggest dream. I was brought on board as a Team Gaspari Athlete in late 2009. That was one of the first goals on my list, and along the way I have achieved others, but some are huge and I am still in pursuit of them. On that list I also wrote down over 5 years ago that I wanted to have an exclusive publishing contract with Weider/AMI. I have always wanted to write articles and blogs having a voice to share with you where my journey has taken me, and what happens along the way.

So tonight I am writing my very first blog for Muscle & Fitness HERS as that Weider/AMI athlete. Just typing that sentence puts such a warm heartfelt smile on my face. I am overwhelmed with an incredible sense of gratitude which resonates deep within me. Certainly, the culmination of my life's experiences and struggles have made and will continue to make my accomplishments so substantially rewarding. And I look forward to sharing with you along the way my experiences.

Additionally, I will have a regular column in Muscle & Fitness Hers called 'Real Talk'. Please look for it in next month's issue.
