Clearing Mental Clutter
Mental clutter slows you down—it muddles your thinking, drains you of energy, and keeps you from living a healthy, happy life. Here, Candice Keene share tips on how to stop a noisy brain
Do you ever notice when you worry about certain things, you feel more mentally exhausted than ever? You try to tell yourself to stop worrying and you just worry more!? Mental exhaustion can create more havoc in our lives and bodies than being physically tired. But the beauty of this is that we can control this mental clutter. It’s our natural daily rhythm to think. We are constantly thinking every second of the day, we are just not always aware of exactly how much. Depending on how deep of a thinker you are, did you know our brains produce as many as 12,000 to 50,000 thoughts in a single day?! That is a lot! By practicing awareness of your mind, you will find that out of these tens of thousands of thoughts produced, we often dwell in the past or the future (future thoughts are good because it is correlated with goal setting, but just make sure they are productive and positive), obsessing about mistakes we might have done or should have done, battling guilt, or worrying. We also tend to drift into our daydreaming state.
The majority of our thoughts relate to the present moment, as it should! Being and living in the now is so important for us to maintain a healthy, driven, and positive state of mind. Unfortunately though, most of us tend to live in the past. Embrace the past, for it brought you here today, but do not dwell in the past. The past is done and over with, there is no turning back or changing it. Learn from the past, apply it to the now, and plan for the future. I try to do this; it keeps me focused. Being stuck in the past also brings about negative thoughts. Negative thoughts bring on worry and self-doubt feelings, which absolutely ruin and interfere with who you are trying to become and what you are striving to accomplish in life. If you focus your energy on worries or on things you don’t want to happen, well guess what… you are actually creating those situations or environments that you don’t want to happen! Law of Attraction, Thoughts Become Things, You Become What You Think About, Law of Cause and Effect… you have heard all of these before. These all stand true to worrying about what you don’t want to happen. Instead of thinking what you don’t want, think about what you do want to happen.
You ever heard the saying, “Just relax and go with the flow?” Going with the “Universal Flow” is the key to your life falling into place. You will be surprised what great things will happen, inside and out, if you just learn to ‘Let Go’ a bit. Some awesome quotes by Lao Tzu that I love are:
“If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place.”
“Stop thinking and end your problems.”
“To a mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.”
So for all of you deep thinkers out there, just be aware of your thousands of thoughts being produced every day.
Until Next Time!
